In the darkness of the night, you’ll witness the mesmerizing blue flames created by sulfuric gas emissions. You will also see local miners working tirelessly to extract sulfur just as their ancestors did a thousand years ago, carrying heavy baskets from the crater’s depths.

Day 1

Transfer: Bali – Mount Bromo

08:00–12:00 – transfer from your hotel/villa to the ferry terminal in Gilimanuk.

Early in the morning, at the appointed time, the company’s driver will pick you up. You will travel in a comfortable car through the western part of Bali to the ferry terminal. The road passes through the island’s most scenic areas: beaches, rice fields, and the West Bali National Park.

12:00–13:00 – ferry crossing to Banyuwangi port in East Java.

In Ketapang, you’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant and then continue your journey toward Mount Bromo. The drive will take about 5 more hours, and by 18:00 you’ll arrive in Cemoro Lawang village. After check-in at the hotel, you can rest and relax after a long day.

Day 2

Sunrise at Mount Bromo – Climb to Bromo Crater – Banyuwangi

03:00 – Departure from the hotel in a 4WD jeep to catch the sunrise. Get ready for an unforgettable excursion to Mount Bromo.

By 04:00, you’ll reach the viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan, where the breathtaking panorama of the Bromo caldera opens before you — a sight that will stay with you forever. Here, you will watch the sunrise.

At 06:00, you’ll return to the jeep and cross the “Sea of Sand” — a vast volcanic plain offering stunning views of the otherworldly landscape. Then you’ll start the climb to the active volcano. After ascending 240 steps, you’ll reach the rim of the crater and witness the surreal, almost Martian scenery around.

Afterward, return to the jeep and head back to the hotel for breakfast, rest, and packing.

At 10:00, you’ll depart toward Madakaripura Waterfall. You’ll spend about two hours exploring the lush surroundings and enjoying the refreshing mist of the falls.

After visiting the waterfall, continue your journey to the hotel at the foot of Mount Ijen.

According to new requirements for visiting Mount Ijen, all visitors must have their blood pressure checked and obtain a medical clearance. Therefore, there will be a short stop at a local clinic on the way — it won’t take long. You’ll also stop for lunch. The total travel time is approximately 5–6 hours.

Upon arrival and check-in at the hotel, you’ll have the evening to rest and prepare for the night ascent.

Day 3

Climbing Mount Ijen – Return to Bali

00:30 – Departure from the hotel to the slopes of the active Mount Ijen.

You will find yourself in an extraordinary natural world — one of the few areas in Java where giant ferns and fantastically shaped plants still thrive. Before the ascent begins, you’ll meet your professional English-speaking guide, who will provide respirator masks and flashlights.

02:00 – Start of the hike to Mount Ijen.

The trek takes approximately 1.5 hours. Upon reaching the crater, you’ll witness the mesmerizing blue flames for which Ijen is famous. This is the largest sulfur deposit in Indonesia, where miners work tirelessly, carrying baskets weighing up to 80 kilograms from the crater. You’ll encounter them on your way to the summit.

As the sun rises, you’ll be at an altitude of 2,386 meters above sea level, where stunning panoramic views unfold — silhouettes of mountains, morning mist, and the surreal turquoise acid lake glowing in the early light.

06:00 – Start the descent from the volcano.

The descent takes about 1 hour. Then you’ll return to the hotel for breakfast and to pack your belongings.

11:00–17:00 – Return to Bali.

The exact arrival time at your hotel or villa will depend on its location and road conditions.
